Jim's surgery went very well. It normally takes a minimum of three hours for his type of surgery, but his only took 2 1/2. The neurosurgeon, Dr. Silbergeld, told us that the tumor had indeed, grown through the dura and was starting to grow into his brain, so choosing to have the surgery was the best choice. Within two hours after the surgery, Jim was awake and his usual ornery self. What was especially hopeful was that he actually said he was hungry; and he ate some oatmeal and a banana within hours of the surgery. Everything is in great shape - his blood pressure, blood sugar, hand/eye coordination.
Today he'll be moved from ICU and as long as he continues to improve, he will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow! :)
There are new pictures on the site of Jim before surgery.
