Jim had a major setback on Saturday. He woke up in the morning with severe left-sided weakness which left him confused and disoriented, unable to stand or walk. I took him in to the ER, and after tests were done, it appears that the tumors in the right side of his brain did not respond to the radiation that he had last October. They are active and growing again. Although the neurosurgeon in Seattle said that he would be willing to do the surgery to remove the other two tumors, this raises the questions of brain damage and quality of life. We are waiting to hear from Dr. Silbergeld the answers to those questions before Jim decides on more surgery.
