Somehow, Jim is still hanging on. 9 days with no food or water, yet the body continues to live. I spent most of last night with him. He woke up at 2am, and I sat on the bed talking with him. For the first time in over a week, he was lucid. After about 1/2 hour, he started having pain and agitation, so I called the nurse in. When she tried to give him his Ativan, we discovered that yet another vein had collapsed. It took the nurses over an hour to find another one.
Jim will be having a picc line inserted into his arm today. The nurses made an attempt to insert one yesterday, but he squirmed too much and pulled it out before they could secure it. Today he will go under light anesthesia so he's really relaxed and comfortable and not fighting the insertion.

I'm sorry to hear about Jim. Hes an awesome person. I still remeber the long talks that we have had. I dont have many people I consider good people. But he definently is one of them. My god be with you and him through this rough time. And I know God will be watching over him as he is a GREAT person. I will be praying for him.... If you need anything Faith, let me know. I know Im in Delaware but I will help any way I can.... I promise...

Jim is sure a strong person. How are you holding up faith? I hope that Jim hangs in there for me to see him on the 7th. I am suppose to get into Fairbanks at 10:30 am, so my first stop is there to see him. Is he allowed to drink or eat anything he wants? What can I bring for him? Tell him I said hello and you hang in here faith. Bob
