Quite a few people showed up for the flag ceremony, despite the short notice. A friend of Jim's is going through Airmen Leadership School right now, and had just done flag duty that day at school. It seemed only natural that she be in charge of the ceremony. I carried his flag out to the pole, and his kids lowered the Posts' flag, folded it, and handed it off to me. They then unfolded their father's flag and raised it. Another friend was part of the ceremony; he was wearing his uniform and calling everyone to attention when appropriate. It was simple, yet beautiful, and Jim's flag now flies proudly over American Legion Post 30 in North Pole, Alaska.
