Well, Anchorage is out. The docs say the tumor is too big to use the stereotactic radiation (4.1cm). When we met with the radiation oncologist here in Fbks yesterday, I pushed him to try to find someone willing to perform surgery on Jim to remove the tumor. He was doubtful, as Jim is so advanced, but he was willing to make a call. About five minutes later the doc came back in the room and told us that he found a neurosurgeon in Seattle willing to do the surgery. That means that Jim will have part of his skull permanently removed, but at least it will stop growing. The other alternative, which was a larger form of radiation on his brain, most likely would have wiped out that which is essentially Jim, and we'd have been left with pretty much a shell. Thank God for this man willing to do the surgery and give Jim another chance at possible recovery.
